PILATES strengthens all body, especially core and back muscles, improves stamina, coordination, balance, flexibility, enhances concentration, and uses breath to relax and unwind.
Mindfulness is a powerful skill , which teaches to pay attention at everything in your life without judging, with kindness to yourself and the world. It is a useful tool in Pilates class, which helps to connect your body and mind. Qigong is moving meditation, which tones, strengthens your body, calms nervous system and enhances your balance. It is great as a warm up and concentration practice before slightly more strenuous Pilates class. |

PilatesAt the beginning of the 20th century, Joseph Pilates created a method based on his extensive knowledge of yoga, Tai Chi, Martial Arts. He called it Contrology. It is, in Joseph Pilates’ own words: ‘a complete coordination of the body, mind and spirit’ After his death, Contrology was renamed Pilates after its creator.
Pilates aims to strengthen core muscles in order to create a corset for lower back support, to mobilise the spine, take joints through healthy full range of motion, build the muscles around joints in order to prevent wear and tear, injuries and back pain. It teaches postural stability, a good balance and relaxation. |
Testimonials
As a Chartered Physiotherapist myself, I am a harsh judge of Pilates teachers, but with Lina I have yet to find a flaw in her programmes, design of her classes (always varied each week), or her instruction technique. As a testament to her excellence I not only recommend my patients to her, but also attend her class for my own physical well-being My wife and I have been with Lina’s classes for some years. She is an excellent teacher and we have learned a great deal, both physical and mental wellness. Highly recommended. I have been going to Lina’s pilates classes for over a year now. I look forward to them every week. Lina is a great teacher who pays attention to everyones abilities and needs, making sure that the exercises are carried out correctly (she is very thorough). She is also a ray of sunshine, always making the class smile or giggle. I love her classes!!! |
I did a course of mindfulness meditation with Lina and can say it helped me greatly. Not only I was introduced into meditation slowly and gradually but also had a chance to find out about topics like Trust, Beginners Mind or Letting go which I was struggling with for a long time. I learnt to observe my thought rather than react to them. Lina is an excellent Pilates teacher. Hugely knowledgable, very caring and gentle in her approach. I recommend her lessons highly. Suffering from fibromyalgia, I started Pilates with Lina 16 months ago. I have changed so much since then, all thanks to Lina and her kind and understanding way of teaching. |
